How do you nurture creative thinkers and innovative learners? B.E.S.T. believes the answer lies in empowering the teachers. That is why, beginning in 2006, we are focusing our efforts on three principle areas:
Technology – B.E.S.T. has committed to fully-integrating our public schools with the most effective teaching technology available. In 2006, we granted funds which provided laptop computers to every second and third grade teacher. We also purchased 4 SMARTBoards for the schools, along with LCD projectors. Our goal is to give every teacher in the school system the tools he/or she needs, so that all children can benefit from the wonderful teaching tools that are available and be “Touched by Technology.”
Professional Development Grants (P.D.G.) – B.E.S.T. is committed to supporting teachers’ academic interests and broadening the scope of their skills. We encourage collegial collaboration so that all teachers can benefit from new experiences.
Educator In-Residence Grants- Professional Artists, Scientists, Mathematicians and Historians can enrich our children’s learning experience with their unique perspectives and skills. B.E.S.T. supports professionals who come into the schools, usually a week at a time, and teach new concepts to both students and teachers.
