Grants Guidelines

I. Objectives/Goals

  1. To maintain a focus on curriculum enhancement and innovation while linking grants to the goals of the Boxford Elementary Schools.
  2. To encourage and support collaborative efforts among teachers, administrators, parents and community organizations.
  3. To support grants which demonstrate potential for lasting benefit.
  4. To provide feedback to grant applicants.
  5. To award grants once in each school year

II. Categories
B.E.S.T. has three types of grants that teachers and administrators may apply for: 

  1. Technology
  2. Educator-in-Residence
  3. Professional Development

Applications may be submitted for grade-level, school-wide, or elementary schools system-wide grants.  (Please note that PTO offers Grants for individual classrooms, supplies and curriculum enrichment materials.)

III. Grants Submission Deadlines
Fall: November 1st – Notification of Award:  December 1st   

Spring: March 31st – Notification of award: April 30th

Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year for special circumstances.  B.E.S.T. has discretionary funds that may be allocated for these special requests.

IV. Grants Review Committee
The Grants Review Committee consists of 6 members:

  • B.E.S.T. Grants Chair
  • One parent volunteer for Cole and one parent volunteer for Spofford

  • One teacher from each school
  • Professional educator volunteer who is not connected with the Boxford public schools
